Welcome to Skaha Matters
Skaha Matters is an independently owned and monthly published community newsletter, which covers all sorts of community news, along with various topics of interest, in and around Heritage Hills, Kaleden, Lakeshore Highlands, Okanagan Falls, Skaha Estates, St. Andrews and Twin Lakes within the South Okanagan Region of British Columbia, Canada. 3300 newsletters are printed each month. The main distribution is by Canada Post on the last business day of the month to all addresses with postal code in the V0H 1K0 series or in the V0H 1R0 series. Extra copies are also available around the community at convenient locations.
Providing the community with monthly updates from their local non-profit groups and various organizations, then helping the many local businesses gain a prominent spot in the local marketplace through advertising and extending advertorial space, followed by endless other community support initiatives, has inevitably made it possible for Skaha Matters to flourish in truly "Bringing Community Matters To You". This newsletter has become the preferred information source for residents and businesses in the area. Not only do locals and visitors pick it up and read it every month, they continually keep it handy as a resource guide all month long until the next issue is published.
Our goal is "Bringing Community Matters To You" and thus help build a stronger community that we all live, work and play in. Between our many advertisers, content contributors and loyal readers, we will continue to keep our momentum going from month to month and year to year. Stay informed on what is going on right here in your own backyard with one complete community newsletter ... Skaha Matters. We are honoured to provide this free monthly newsletter to our local communities. We thank everyone for their continued support.

The Community Calendar Has Changed To A Weekly eCalendar!
A Community Calendar was included in every issue on page 2 since June 2013. After 3 years of filling in the calendar, we outgrew it! We simply have too many events and activities in the South Skaha Area happening on the same dates to fit into the calendar type of format. With such a wide demographic reach, some events were only suited to a smaller group of targeted individuals, hence many events overlapping.
Our solution is to offer the local readership the opportunity to sign up for an "Online Subscription" to receive our Weekly eCalendar in order to be reminded of events before they happen. You can choose to unsubscribe any time by following the link at the bottom of each email. You can also share those emails on Facebook or forward the emails to a friend, by clicking on the icons within the email. To sign up for the Weekly eCalendar, please scroll down to the "Online Subscription" link below.
We send out weekly emails on Sundays, which includes event information for the coming week and the week following. Any submissions with special event dates already included in the monthly Skaha Matters will automatically be included in the Weekly eCalendar. Please call 250.490.6951 or send an email to [email protected], if you would like your special event added. Please Note: Inclusion of information in the Weekly eCalendar that is not included in the monthly Skaha Matters will likely be subject to a small fee.

More About Skaha Matters
Skaha Matters was first published in August 2009 by Myleen Mallach, who remains the owner and publisher of this community newsletter. Myleen saw a need for the community she lived and worked in to have a communication medium that truly met the needs of it's residents and businesses on a more 'grassroots' level. She also owns and publishes another newsletter called Apex Matters, which is now in it's 21st season of "Keeping You in the S'know" during the 2024/2025 winter season. Myleen operates her business, Okanagan Matters Publications, out of two home offices in the South Okanagan Region of BC, located in Okanagan Falls and Apex Mountain.
